CONVERSATION PEACE: RESTORATIVE ACTION PROCESS & FACILITATION

August 29 & 30, 2024 | 2-Day Online Workshop 9:30am-3:30pm PST

Are you looking to facilitate restorative justice processes in response to harm that occurs in school settings? Is your school community seeking alternatives to the traditional punishment-discipline model? Join us for Conversation Peace: Restorative Action Process & Facilitation!

Conflict and harm are not unusual in our schools. Traditional responses often involve punishment, shame and isolation in their attempts to change or manage behavior. Rather than asking what rules have been broken and what punishment is deserved, Restorative Action seeks to repair and address the root causes of conflict. In this process, a facilitator works alongside those impacted, asking who has been harmed, what are their needs, and what process is needed to invite meaningful accountability and collectively heal.

This two-day training will introduce participants to the Restorative Action Conversation Peace model, an unscripted process and framework for responding to harm restoratively. Over the course of two days, participants will explore key themes of restorative facilitation, and learn to facilitate exploratory conversations, conferences and follow-up through a blend of content, reflection, roleplay and experiential exercises. Participants will be invited to consider the role of systemic factors on harm and conflict in the school setting, as well as the impact their own intersectional identities have on a restorative process.

Please note: this training is focused on responsive restorative justice practices, intended to be used in conjunction with preventative and proactive restorative justice approaches in a whole-school model.

*Note: Trainings will not be recorded.

  • Course Cost: $400.00+GST;  Facilitation Manual: $25.00+Shipping+GST
  • PayPal Invoices will be emailed upon receipt of the Registration Form.
  • Digital Certificate will be emailed upon completion of the course.

*CJI offers inclusivity and equity support rates. If you have financial concerns that make participation prohibitory, please let us know, no need to explain. If you are a School District staff within British Columbia, please contact us regarding District pricing options.
