CLEARING THE LENS: Integrating Neuroscience and Restorative Justice

(2-3 Days)
Cutting edge developments in Neuroscience are providing valuable insights into the field of Restorative Justice. This advanced two day course brings together these two fields to shed new light on critical issues related to Restorative Justice practitioners, participants and processes.

In this course participants will discuss:

  • How can we support someone who has caused harm to take responsibility?
  • How can healing be supported in those who are harmed?
  • What causes defensiveness in participants, and what are scientifically sound strategies for managing these responses?
  • What are the key elements that make restorative processes successful?
  • What causes facilitator bias?
  • How can a facilitator maintain emotional grounding during intense Restorative Justice encounters?

Through a special focus on the anatomy of the human brain, this course will explore Restorative Justice with added depth and clarity.
